The only problem is that 3rd overdrive and 4th are almost identical.  Also
2nd overdrive and 3rd are almost identical.

If you have different ratio spacing you can interspace the overdrive ratios
between the direct ratios and have a 7 speed box.  The sequence would be 1st,
2nd, 2nd O/D, 3rd, 3rd O/D, 4th, 4th O/D.

BTW the J type works in 3rd and 4th.  The switch is actuated in either
position (a least on my xmission).
