Just checked out the Rimmers listings for fuel pumps -
Spitfire:
http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/rimmer/spitfire/fuel#Fuel%20Pump%20&%20Fittings
GT6:
http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/rimmer/triumph/gt6/fuel#Fuel%20Pump%20&%20Filter

For a start, there are 3 different fuel pumps for a Spitfire - straight
lever (screw or push-on type connections), and the cranked lever version
used on later 1500s. The part number for a GT6 fuel pump does not match any
of those used on the Spitfire.

Maybe he was confusing the Spitfire with the TR250 and carb-fed TR6, which
use a larger version of the same engine, and therefore do use the same fuel
pump as the GT6?
