While I am a huge advocate of wearing seat belts at
all times, my "early model" (*) Spit didn't have any.
I was too broke at the time to do anything except put
gas into it. But I was going to add junk yard seat
belts until I discovered it didn't have the mounting
points and the cost involved in getting them welded
in. Also if you are in the UK adding the mounts makes
the sills structural, as without seat belts the sills
are not considered a structural MOT item.

(*) Described as such because BGW 50B was a mut. I
never could tell what the hell it was in terms of
years and such. I wish I'd kept it as it had a Le Mans
style hardtop (a la GT6 almost) and looked much too
like the racers of the era for conincidence. The
things one does in ones youth and regrets later.....
It was fast too - I recall out running a co-worker in
his brand new (we're back in the late 80s here) Audi
coupe down the M3 at over 120mph. The car had the
rather James Bond style optional passenger ejection
system, otherwise known is single latch doors. I never
knew the value of "anti-burst" door locks until I
owned that car! It would try and throw (unseatbelted)
passengers out of the car as the door flew open around
roundabouts!
