Very exciting.
Just about done with installation of my nice new wiring harness.
Can already see the difference in the brightness of the ignition and oil
lamps.
Should have it done this weekend once the new fusebox and connectors
arrive.

One inadvertently discovered tip I have for those heading down this path.
When I removed the dash and associated wiring, I just cut the main lines
and left all the individual lines connected to the gauges etc. At the time
this was simply because it was the fastest way to get it out. This turned
out to be a big help during reinstallation - just sit in the drivers seat
with the harness installed, and unplug the old wire from it's location on
the dash and reconnect the matching new one (plug and play?). I did the
whole thing in an hour or two and no shorts (so far).

Question: I still have to run the wiring up to the headlights and horns.
I removed the old wrapped line which is installed on the frame rail. It
was coated in oil, dirt and other nastiness. It seems to me to be a poor
place to run wires for this car. I'm thinking of rerouting somewhere
higher up, say along the engine shroud on the drivers side. I have a nice
metal one from my old MK1 that I can use for this purpose instead of that
cardboard thing that tends to collapse. It will then be visible and will
stay cleaner. The wiring would then drop down, probably underneath the
radiator to connect to the horns and on to the headlights per the old
system. Obviously I'm not concerned with originality here. Anyone care to
comment?

Also - I have the rear portion of the harness still to install (probably at
a later date). This one runs along the drivers floor pan which also seems
to be a bad location for wiring. Has anyone rerouted this somewhere else
successfully?

Thanks
Mark, 65 Spitfire
