Actually, too-perfect alignment is bad for the joints, since the needles
never get to move, and the load it always taken on the exact same locations.
Driveshafts are normally designed with slight angles at the joints to
avoid this. People doing engine swaps, etc. have to keep this in mind.

They are more common than you think, but they cater mostly to the truck
industry. Go look in the grimy industrial part of town where
the truck repair places are. (In the USA, they must get a lot
of business from all the big SUVs!)
