One of my Spitfires ( FC 2218 ) had a chromed windshield frame ( done by the
previous owner ) . Although not original , it looked pretty good .
As one of our friends on this list like powder coating , this particular
previous owner experimented with chrome , and various components were
chromed .
A shining example of a Spitfire :-)

I guess this must fall under the "ask a silly question" header, but I was
quite sincere. Has anyone seen something like this? Other than blowing the
originality, any reason not to consider something on this order? The frame
in question has already been removed and appears to be a good candidate for
such an experiment.
