Hi Jeff,
Just for fun I'll try to tell you what the auto inspection service will
report:
Engine: Probably needs decarbonization (valve job).
Possibly new rings and bearings
New rear main seal
Tune up and Timing
Transmission: Gears a little loose but workable
Might need new syncros, bearings, and anti-rattle kit
New speedometer cable
Clutch might be slipping a little
Clutch master and slave cylinders need repair
Driveshaft and rear end: New U-joints all around (4)
Too much play in differential
Suspension: worn out
New bushings, ball joints, front and rear bearings,
dampers
Tires: Front passable, rear need replaced
Steering: Needs alignment and tie rod ends
Fuel system: Needs fuel tank flushed and cleaned
Carburetors need rebuilding
New fuel filters
Cooling system: Needs flushing and new hoses
Braking system: Master cylinder needs repair
calipers and wheel cylinders need rebuilding
new drums and rotors, or have them turned
new pads and shoes
Electrical system: New generator brushes
Several bulbs need replacing
one or more horns don't work
turn signals need work
Exhaust system: New manifold gaskets
new muffler
Interior: Most everything show quit a bit of wear
Need new seats, door panels, carpet, dash cover
Need seat belts
Body: New paint
Rust in sills, floors, trunk, wheel arches
Top could stand replacing
no jack in boot
If only half of these things are bad, you'll have a pretty good car for
restoration
Good luck,
Bill Brockschmidt
