Anybody out there have and further suggestions for an overheating
problem.
'75 Spitfire 1500, with 35,000 original miles on it.
Here's the list so far:
1.) Had the radiator cleaned and inspected by a "professional" radiator
shop, OK.
2.) New thermostat, 160 degree F.
3.) Flushed the entire cooling system using Prestone's heavy duty flush.
4.) Added electric pusher fan, (for piece of mind.)
5.) New radiator cap, 13PSI.
6.) All radiator cooling shrouds are intact and in place.
Although the car has never boiled-over, it typically runs at 1/2-3/4 on
the temp. gauge.
I was wondering if the water pump is worn? It's the only thing I have
not taken out
and inspected so far. Does the impeller wear-down?
BTW, removing the thermostat and removing the front license plate have
helped some.
(please don't start that thread again about thermostats, schools out for
the summer.)
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
