David, I was a particapant in the Route 66 Tour and the Route 50 tour to Lake 
Tahoe that Bob Brown referred to in his e-mail to you. Both of these tours 
were memorable and I would do it again.  However , I would not do it in June , 
July, or August.  The heat was  terrible the whole way and is very rough on the 
car.  I  would make sure your car is in tip-top shape and I would also 
recommend not doing it alone.
