First, you're NUTS to even consider a forced induction system of any kind
with carbs. Get fuel injection, preferably something aftermarket that you
can program to suit your needs. Second, have you looked into any sort of
used supercharger? I've seen VW Corrado superchargers going for as little as
$400 used. From what I've seen, they're more efficient than Vortech units,
particularly at low rpm.
