Okay you guys! Head up, chest out, stomach in!
The April issue of "SportsCar", the SCCA magazine arrived today with
a wonderful article about the GT5 class of race cars. The article
goes into the wild latitude allowed in the construction of these
cars: tube framing and all sorts of modification. What caught my
eye, however, was a "sidebar" article about the marvelous GT5 Mini
that has been built by Joe Huffaker Jr of FP fame. ('92 & '97
national champ) The article details the theory behind Huffaker's
choice of car: he wanted to "maximize the use of the Mini's contact
patches". His new car joins other GT5 Minis built by Richard Kraus
and Jack Baumgardner and they all three seem destined to take the
Mini to new heights in the '98 SCCA season.
Oh, wait, dammit, forgot to mention that all three of these Minis
are constructed with rear wheel drive!
