Hi - I'm a new Chapman-era list member. Name is John Coelho & I live in
Moody, Maine. I bought a 1967 Elan Coupe (S3) last October, a car I've
wanted since I first saw the roadster back in the mid-sixties at the NY
auto show. It seems to be in good shape & fairly original although the
engine serial isn't the original & the interior was (nicely) redone in
leather at some point. (White with tan interior). The original fuel pump
was replaced by a Bendix, also.
This is my first Lotus although my father had an Eleven way back when & we
helped a guy in racing his 7 in the sixties also.
Previously, I've owned Berkeleys (2), Corvettes (sorry...) (2), Jags (2),
Triumphs (2), and an Alfa. Some of these were real rust-buckets but they
all had um, "personalities".
I'm older than dirt, but hanging in & still love British cars for some
reason.
I'll be working on the Elan quite a lot, I suspect, and I'm sure I'll have
a lot of questions that you folks already know the answers to. I probably
won't have too many answers but I'll try. I'll probably have a few
opinions, I suppose.
