I bought my 1st and only LBC almost by accident in the summer of '78. It
was my only mode of motor transport until marriage (to a woman, not a car)
in '84 and purchase of a Mitsu. In those exciting 6 years, my TR6 failed
me once on a freeway flyover (read: no place for emergency stop!) on Oakland's
Cypress structure (pre-89 quake, of course) which caused minor collison of
2 big-rigs in their avoiding contact with me/lbc.
Another time, her front right gusset gave and I found same-corner wheel jutting
out of the well about a foot and at a 30 degree from vertical -- surely was
an odd sight. Luckily said gusset didn't fail while she was driven.
While 6 was disabled, I got around using bicycle and helpful housemates
(one housemate had a spitfire that needed $5K worth of work w/i 2-year of
new purchase -- another story).
Overall, do I enjoy owning and operating her? You better believe it. Daily
driver now? No; and I am not as young as I was a few years back, you know.
