If you decide to make a new dash, why not cover it with your own
veneer?  I have bought veneer from Constantines (Bronx, NY.
800-223-8087)  They have everything: Carpathian Elm Burl,
Mahogany Crotch Face (I'm sorry but that's what it says on page
11 in their catalog!!)  A typical price for "Peel-N-Stick"
Mahogany 24" x 48" is $27.50.  I ordered white ash and walnut
and made a tennis racquet.  I think covering a dash would be a lot
easier.
