Just found out I've had a virus in my 'puter and probably have had it for
the past week. It may have replicated itself to anyone in my address book or
anyone I sent a message to.
The name of it is W32.badtrans.B@mm
Not a terribly bad one, mostly a PITA that degrades your computer
performance.
I think I know how I got it, attachments from a trusted source (who probably
is clueless he sent it). Anyone on the Team.Net lists, and some others,
probably would not have gotten it from me because those lists strip the
attachments, but if my reply also sent a copy direct to you, you may be
vulnerable.
To find out if you have it, do a "find" on files or folders, and look for a
file KERNEL32.EXE -- if you have that one you have the Badtrans virus. You
will also have a file kdll.dll, which is part of it. They probably will be
in your System folder.
Note, there may be other kernel32 files in your computer that are okay. but
the .EXE file is not. Don't just delete the files. If you have it, go to the
Symantec website for more info and the fix.

info on it with a link for the fix. The fix is a simple download that is
easy and quick to run. I just ran it. Virus is gone.
