Gotta get mine in:
1963, 1963 Buick (I was 6) Stepfather parked to run into store for a moment,
left myself and my sister (3 at the time) in the car. I hopped into the
driver's seat and pulled the column shift into neutral (mimicking Stepdad's
driving technique.) Stepdad hadn't set the parking brake and we were on an
incline, car rolled backward into concrete base of parking lot light.
Stepdad wasn't very nice before that, was worse after that. Buick drivable,
I couldn't sit down for several days.
1977, 1972 Volkswagen Super Beetle - driving drunk one night (learned my
lesson), decided to see how much air I could get going over the RR tracks by
my house. Picked the only night that the neighbor on the other side of the
tracks pushed his '65 Chevy station wagon out into the road (it didn't run)
in order to move it to the other side of his driveway (who does this at 2:30
AM?.) Blocked the whole road, nowhere to go. I had the brakes locked and
the emergency brake on by the time I slid into it (at the B pillar) at about
10 mph. Bug drivable, Chevy still not.
1980, 1976 Mustang II vs 1970 Volkswagen Beetle - Driving through Bozeman,
Montana, snow covered road early Sunday morning. All the lights flashing
yellow for us in the Mustang, the Bug runs a red light, we play bumper cars
on the ice. Hit the Bug on the driver's front wheel at about 30 mph. No
injuries. The 17 year-old girl driving the Bug had driven it four blocks
from the repair shop where it had been for four months being repaired from a
similar accident. Mustang driveable, VW not ever again.
None since then... hope this doesn't jinx it.
