Naw, Elans are real underdogs..... Lets look at the the top AND
bottom of A/SP at 98 Nationals (from memory ;-):
1. Tri-Point RX-7 4. 911
2. Elan 5. Elan
3. Elan 6. Elan
And now, the bottom:
7. Tri Point RX-7 13. 911
8. Viper 14. MR2
9. 911 15. 911
10. 911 16. 911
11. 911 17. 911
12. Viper 18. 911
No Elans in the non-trophy positions. Yes, all of the Elan pilots
are good but in one case a trophy-winning Elan driver autoxed
only a couple of times all season! A/SP included two (I think)
former national champions that didn't even trophy.
Oh, there were two trophies in A/SPL - both Elans. So, 7 of 8
ASP/ASPL trophy positions were taken by a marque (Elan)
and a half (Tri Point RX-7).
