Howdy,

Anyone got any favorites or recommendations for an ODB-II diagnostic tool?
I've got an engine light on in the neon and I kinda would like to be able
to see what it means, etc.

I checked out a few from Kal-Equip (made by Actron). The KM9615 looks
pretty good: It lets you read and reset codes, along with real-time
monitoring and on-screen code definitions. Recommended price is $380.

They also have the Actron CP9035, which just lets you read & reset the
scan codes. That's $211.

Is the extra money to have the on-screen definitions and real-time
monitoring worth it? Is there some other tool I should buy? Where can I
get the best prices on this stuff?

I don't care much / at all about non-ODB II capabilities, and am not
_that_ concerned about software upgradeability (which comes with the
Actron Scantool CP9110 + CP9114 OBD-II Cartridge for $470), assuming
ODB-II isn't changing all the time or something.

Any advice here would be great. Thanks!

Mark
(btw, I think I managed to set the code for a misfire when I put on some
Crane Firewire 8.5mm plug wires and zip-tied 'em together rather than use
the (too small) stock plug wire holders. After I snipped the wire ties,
the stumble seemed to clear up. Guess now I get to see if I can find some
8.5mm wire clips too... :-/)
