Hi Gang - Today I lost my second Pertronix Ignitor.
I lost one on my Tiger a couple of years ago.The one today was on my S3 GT.
A few months back I lost a magnet ring on my S4. By lost I mean they quit
working. The magnet ring fell apart.
I replaced the module with an Pertronix LU142A. I found that the mounting
is better than the LU142 , as it uses two screws instead of one to hold it
down.
Now the problem, The timing with the new unit is too far advanced and can
not be set back to normal because the vacuum advance unit hits the side of
the engine. I replaced the LU142A with the one on my Series 4 (an LU142)
and have no problem setting the timing. I know this subject has come up in
the past, but I haven't heard any comment from any one, on what Pertronix
has to say about this problem.
