Jerry---Since you are going to "box up" the emissions stuff, you might
as well include the carbon canister, with all of its hoses. Here's one
way of dealing with the three questions you asked:
1) Remove the canister, but do not plug the vent hose from the fuel
tank. You could run the hose direct to the float bowl overflow tube, or
any place that vacuum is NOT present.
2) Tape over the two leads going to the anti-run-on switch, pack the
switch with the canister and hoses.
3) The engine needs to breathe. If you plug the port/tube at the valve
cover, you'll need to open up another vent, as in the block. I'm not
sure if the HS6 has a port on the carburetor to handle crankcase
ventilation. If not, better to run this existing hose to the air cleaner
box. You may need to make a hose connection. It will also work if it
hangs down into the car's air flow, but won't look good. If you apply
straight engine vacuum to the valve cover, you'll suck oil into the
intake. An early TR6 PCV valve might work here.
