[Spridgets] De-seaming.

I've seen occasional comments about de-seaming.
Would it make my SWA '65 look better?
Is it just a case of grinding down the seam until it's flush?
Or is there more too it?
Is there any welding that has to be done?
Does it weaken the body's integrity?
