Buy tools as you need them. A workbench with a proper height stool is a
must. I have found that a parts washer is invaluable, even a little one.
Harbor Freight has some decent stuff at very low prices. Get into the
"Inside Track Club" for a year and the prices go down another 10% or more.
Then buy a bench grinder, 4" angle grinder and a parts washer. You can get
all three for less than $100, or a lot more if you want to buy really good
quality stuff.
Make your shop a pleasure to work in with nice touches like paper towel
holders in strategic locations, a clean place to wash up after work, and a
telephone is very handy in the garage.
Don't forget to get a watch cat.
