Definitely!  My leak got much better when I hooked it up.

No, I don't think so.  The stock setup is air goes in through the vented
cap, through teh engine, out the oil separator and into the manifold.
There is not supposed to be a vent tube on the valve cover on a 67.
If you closed off the air inlet (oil cap), you would be encouraging
blowby.  There may be other reasons why this is not a good idea.
