Run at least a couple of tanks of 87. And I also trust that you stick your
foot into it. If you light-foot it, so that it lugs around with the TC
locked up at low engine speeds, that will also do it.

I put 87 (the middle grade) in it once and had a lot of knocking and  
pinging, back in 2000, so I went right back to 92.  Why could that  
have been?

it has the original O2 sensors.  Air filter is new within the last 4  
months.  Plugs and wells (whatever those are) are original.

Not much has been done to it other than oil, fuel filter, air filter,  
brake, tranny flush, etc (had a lurching problem that the flush  
cleared up)

Oh yeah, its an ATX as well.
