This afternoon I was sitting in the 2016 Honda Odyssey van waiting for gra=
nddaughter to finish a theater activity and I went to sleep in the front se=
at.=C2=A0 Had the radio and inside lights on.=C2=A0 When she finished and c=
ame out, car would not start.=C2=A0 Completely dead.=C2=A0 Electric seat wo=
uld not come back to driving position, etc.
Here's the question:=C2=A0 In the old days a weak battery would give notice=
by cranking slowly, etc., before failing.=C2=A0 This is the car I drive re=
gularly and it gave NO warning.=C2=A0 Luckily, I could call son-in-law and =
he came to help.=C2=A0 Would not start with good set of booster cables.=C2=
=A0 Would not start with 15 minutes of charging on cables before attempting=
to start.=C2=A0 So in the morning I'll take pickup and tools and pull batt=
ery, get a replacement, and move the van home.
Does anyone have a suggestion for identifying a failing battery before bein=
g stranded?=C2=A0 (Battery is about 4 years old.)
