Ian,

I think I can help you. About 25 years ago I put a new tank on my J2 and
removed a few salvageable bits from the old one. I still have the filler
neck if you'd like it for the cost of postage. It was soldered into the top
of the tank.

I've made several breather vents over time and most recently have used 3/16"
x .030 automotive copper tubing from NAPA. Its semi-soft but bends well
without flattening. I simply wind the tubing around a length of 1/2" wooden
dowel for six turns. It too is soldered into the top of the tank toward the
left hand end. I can give you all the dimensions if you need them.

Cheers, "Bob".
