I thought about doing the same with my PA and bug-eye seats.

Jack Kahler just got a pair of  seat frames from Steve Gilbert, I think, for 
his PA that are about the same size but are hollowed out on the inside edge to 
fit over the driveshaft tunnel so they are nearly touching on the center of 
the car.
