I have always tightened head studs dry, and torqued til you thought you
might strip them out of the block. I have a factory head nut wrench. It is
a full circle and thin enough to fit under the rocker stand overhang. It is
only about six inches long, but it has it has a knob on the end for tapping
with a hammer. I have also opened up a 9/16" crowfoot to use with a torque
wrench. (If you care to guess at what torque value to use.)
