I don't ever remember seeing a Spit with whitewalls back then. All the ones I remember had blackwall tires. The more innovative owners were putting Radial tires (still blackwalls) on their Spits and

Bill I've got an original sales brochure for a 69 spit. the picture shows wsw tires with what appears to be about 3/4" wide. Looks nice with the wheel covers of that time. Randy
