- I had a similar problem with my Original speedo. I opened the gauge and found that the pin that held the odometer assembly which subsequently meshes gears to drive the trip odometer had slipped out

- It sounds like the pressure plate is "Kaput", you might also want to think about replacing the clutch disk and throwout bearing while your doing the repairs. This will save you alot of headaches lat
