Hi Rene - a DPO is a 'Dumb Previous Owner', I believe. I agree they do tend to run on, but due to deisel-ing, not because you still have power to the coil. If running-on is stopped by removing a wire

the anti run on valve shuts off gas to the carb when the ignition is shut off. It is located on the top of the firewall on the passenger side. Look for a small part with hoses coming out of it. ...Ar

My '72 doesn't have one, so take this with a grain of salt, but I thought that the anti run-on valve just created a huge vacuum leak when the ignition was turned off, effectively killing the engine.

Scott and Art, It looks like I have a problem here. The engine of my B DOES run on after power down. Only when it is hot. But how is this possible with no power to the coils? Do I still have a spark

Running on isn't really due to ignition...I think it's due to compression, heat, and fuel/air supply. They keep the engine spinning after the car shuts off. On my 76, the anti-run on valve doesn't c

Actually the MGB sometimes has a bit of a (I think?) unique run on problem. The ignition switch does not shut of power to the coil when you turn the car off. It removes power to a relay. What was hap

Is run-on the same thing as dieseling? (The engine kind of stumbles and shakes around after the ignition is turned off.) Does high octane fuel help prevent this? Please pardon my automotive ignorance

Your timing could be off or the octaine of the gas you are using could be too low or if you could have a bad diode that is causing the alternator to send power back to the anti run on valve or you co
