Actually the MGB sometimes has a bit of a (I think?) unique run on problem.
The ignition switch does not shut of power to the coil when you turn the car
off. It removes power to a relay. What was happening with my car was...turn
the car off and it would still run. What was happening was the alternator
still had enough momentem
to keep the relay energized. Cure....slam the right door really hard!
Or what worked better was putting a diode in line with the wire from the
alternator that goes to the warning light on the dash. It's really nice
having my car shut off now. Oh yeah, some cars came from the factory with
this diode.
