Hello All, Got the old frozen in temp sender out by slowly drilling it out with succesively bigger drill bits. I had to pry out some of the old threaded material but I cleaned up the threads and was

Hi Daniel, The sender needs a ground. When you ground it, it works fine. I'm told that the gasket has a staple in it that allows the sender to get good ground. Well, I made my own gasket and my temp

You know that the gauge works by the grounding test. I believe that the sender is a variable resistor that should change with temp. So use an Amp meter and see if there is a change with temp. If the

Fred, Dana Robb, all, This is the stange thing. I do have the sender housing grounded. Since the cooling system won't hold water I can't test the resistance with temp jsut yet. Why I am saying that t

Do you have an ohm meter? If so, disconect the wire from the sender and check resistance between the screw terminal on the sender and the hex case of the sender. If there is some reading (not over so

little Hi Pat, Dan, Roadster people: Checking the sending unit is actually really easy, but you have to be able to get the sender off the car and into a pot of boiling water. I don't have any sort of

Slight correction, Kyle, the cold resistance is "higher" than others, not temperature sender has a negative coefficient of resistance (as temperature goes up, resistance goes down). Peace, Pat -- - S

Kyle, you are correct, thanks. I was attributing the "lower cold resistance" to the new sender, not the old one. Isn't the english language wonderful?!? Peace, Pat -- - Support Habitat for Humanity,
