Jack,
Sorry I couldn't make M-O this year but have heard several reports from
others. Four day events are OK for me but do have their drawbacks,
especially when one race group gets 3 sessions on Thursday and fewer
sessions on the weekend days.
Wonder if the new HSR/SVRA alliance will help this? Why not reserve SVRA
events for the traditional SVRA groups + maybe ONE feature, and run the GTP
cars, Historic Stock Cars, and other more modern stuff with HSR events?
Although, I see Peter McL is driving a Spice these days ...
Of course, being the warped sort of guy I am, I actually ENJOYED Mid-Ohio in
1999! Big fields but I had some great races with lots of cars last year.
Hope to make it back there in 2001.
Keep up the good fight, I run a very small VSCCA event and know how hard it
is to please 60 entrants -- can't imagine 350! You're OK in my book.
Unrelated question: can you tell us anything about plans for the Glen this
year? I.E. anything changing to avoid the problems of '99? Will SVRA be
able to function as Race Control this year? Is WGI still going to insist on
red flagging/black flagging whenever one car goes in the gravel?
Hang in there,
Mark Palmer
