Doug has a point. The problem is with (a) The System and (b) ourselves. The
tort system in partnership with a free lunch attitude by many civilians has
created a tangled mess that encourages lawsuits for every grievance, real or
imagined. I know lawyers that have done very well for themselves, and others
who have not; one works as a clerk in a dry cleaners; my nephew ended up
owning small rental properties and will never willingly go near a courtroom;
another just bought a Mercedes 8000SLR or whatever their latest supercar
designation is-- costs more than all the cars in my garage combined, and more
power to 'im.
We should not punish success. ( That said, I also am loathe to reward
knavery. But there are knaves in every pursuit, even on the race track....).
