Some of my favorite old racing movies are "The Green Helmet" (Lister-Jag and
Tojiero-Jag), "Johnney Dark" (Woodill Wildfire, Tatum Special and old kit
cars), "Grand Prix", "Le Mans", "The Big Wheel" (Mickey Rooney as a dirt
racer), "The Racers" (Kirk Douglass as a F-1 driver), "To Please a Lady"
(Clark Gabel as oval tracker - shot in Arlington, TX)and the race scenes out
of "Spin Out" and "Viva Las Vegas"(Elvis but worth watching for the shots of
Old Yaller, 427 Cobra, Ferrari 250 TDF and Anne Margaret). Also a cult film
called "Road Racer" made in the 1950s. Very bad but great footage of Ak
Millers' Caballo II and his Devin-Corvette. Was redone recently by some idiot
without cars (they were the only decent thing about it). Great book on race
movies: "Races, Chases and Crashes" by Dave Mann and Ron Main. Classic
Motorbooks usually has it. ISBN#0-87938-859-5
