Thanks all for your suggestions. Trying to help a friend while doing my =
work and busyness is a challenge. I think I need to retire and just =
play with Triumphs. Will try all recommendations this weekend. Cheers

The one time I had to tow the car home was because the DPO installed the =
fuel level sender without a gasket but used RTV instead. RTV is NOT =
gasoline tolerant. I globule that exuded inside the take swelled up and =
dropped off and plugged the fuel line. This convenient short cut by the =
DPO cost me several hours and quite a few dollars resulting in pulling =
the tank and having it cleaned a lined.

=20

The only other running issue I had was a loose rivet on the coil =
terminal.

=20

The usual diagnostic procedures are in order. 1) verify spark. 2) =
verify fuel. Note that 12.2 volts is a bit low and 11.4 is a bit low =
but it should be sufficient to run the engine. What voltage do you =
measure whilst cranking? If it stays up above 8 - 9 volts you'll be =
fine.

The first time our first TR3 died, I was out with my wife and we were =
about 2 miles from home. As we trudged our way home I explained that =
this was part of the fun of owning a TR. I'm not sure she was =
convinced.......

Hopefully your neighbor isn't too upset.

Really looking forward to being another of your neighbors next winter!
