I had the really slow turning starter as well - one of my brush holders had
a broken spring.
Apparenly with one brush the starter still had a bit of power - with a
totally fresh battery it would turn enough to start.
Huge difference once the brushes were replaced and the spring was fixed...
my only experience with this one....
