On many cars, the stop is simply bent from people trying to open the doors
by pulling up on the handle. I don't know why everyone assumes it should
pull up, but they do. Geo's solution of gluing in some extra metal is
probably better than trying to bend the stop back as the bending will weaken
and eventually break it.
