I had the same problem with my TR3. The long term solution was a Stag.
The short term solution was a Jag XJ6. I'd still have the XJ6, but parts
for it cost far more than anything else I ever owned.
Parts for the Stag are reasonable, and I've done 20,000 miles without a
breakdown, with a cracked transmission and bad rings.
Admittedly, sorting a Stag can be diffcult, but when it's done, it's a
great car.
If I had a manual trans, I wouldn't be surprised if it would kick butt
on Hondas. :-
