Driving yesterday I seemed to have lost some power. Today I went in and
replaced the plugs, points, rotor, cap, wires, low and high tension. Still
rough
and after a drive still low power. Rotated the diz to try and find better
timing
and then isolating plugs to try to identify which cylinder. Cylinders 1 and 3
seem not to be firing, yet using the Colortune and the spark at the block
technique there was an obvious spark. Cylinders 2 and 4 have good light brown
color. Something really amiss and now at a loss. Haven't checked the valve gap
clearances.
I have been putting about 500 miles a week (cruising speed around 50 - 60) on
it for the last three weeks or more. Sometimes the temp got a bit high but no
overheat, and always recovered to 185 on the down side of the mountain
(hill).
Any suggestions, could the valves have gone so out in such a short period.
One day fine, the next like running on 3 (or 2) cylinders.
TIA for any reply/suggestion.
