Thanks Randall, Mike, Ed ...
for your replies regarding the gearbox/oil filler.
Upon further investigation the gearbox does seem to be put togther from
inconsistant parts, no filler/dipstick on the top ...no filler/plug in the
casing. I went a bit further and pealed back the rug and padding and found a
molested gearbox cover (steel w/foam pad) and a nasty cutaway (~3" x 1.5")
from the filler hole exposing what is apparently two switches - spade
connectors, for an overdrive. In the past I had noticed the relay under the
dash for the overdrive, no wiring.) There is no overdrive solenoid existing
on the gearbox casing. Well that's whats there.
Now I know I added gearbox oil in the past ... one of the two retaining
screws/rods on the side casing ... just which one??? Did I just get lucky?
What danger lies if I add again in one of these locations?
Other than these now apparent inconsistancies the gearbox has operated
without problem. Any suggestion?
Thanks again & Best Regards,
Ed (58 TR3A) - mostly ...
