mating a later starter to an early g'box? (TR3)

Sorry for this recurrent question but I cannot connect to the
listquest archive.
Can anyone quickly outline what it takes to mate a later type starter
to a early "bullnose" tranny? I might buy one of these g'boxes, the
time to convert my 3B full synchro to OD.
