So here I am, driving around at 2AM and I stop at a stop light and hear a
slight squeal. Didn't think much of it until I re-engaged first gear to
accelerate away and heard the same squeal a quarter way through the pedal
travel of the clutch. Yet again, next light as I downshift into neutral
same thing... and back again as I put it back in gear.
THREE THROWOUT BEARINGS SINCE MAY 1999!!!
I don't ride the clutch, nor do I keep my foot on the pedal at stops...
these roller bearings are just rubbish!
ARGH!
I think I'm just going to do away with the whole lot and just install the
Cambridge Motorsports Co-Axial Clutch Release mechanism... pricey but I
won't be doing gearbox swaps every year!!! (yes yes I know about the Land
Cruiser mods... still just a big hassle!).
Kai
P.S.: The current throwout bearing, when installed, I took the liberty of
packing to capacity with more high-temp bearing grease as little seamed to
be inside!!!
