>I've been trying to reassemble my TR6 tranny and have run into a snag. The
bloody circlip on the front end of the main shaft won't expand without
bending. I don't have the Churchill tool to do apply the circlip as
illustrated in the manual.
Has anyone got any bright ideas?

Nope. But try this: Carefully tap the circlip up the tapered end of the
shaft. Each time I've done this it snaps into place in the groove just
fine. Just walk it down the shaft a little on each side keeping it fairly
straight.
