AFAIK, the circlip ALWAYS bends unless you use the special tool.  Just buy a 
new circlip
for your final assembly.  Cut the old cliclip in a fairly straight area and use 
it when you need
to trial fit the 2-3 cluster.

I've been trying to reassemble my TR6 tranny and have run into a snag. The 
bloody circlip on the front end of the main shaft won't expand without 
bending. I don't have the Churchill tool to do apply the circlip as 
illustrated in the manual.

Has anyone got any bright ideas?
