Before proceeding to bend the clip on the other side, I thought I'd ask if there were any tricks for fitting these clips. < How about lubrication. If they are cruddy and corroded, try sanding or wire brushing them and then a little lithium grease to help them slide. Once into place they will lock together and stay put. New rubber helps, too.
