Andy,
Maybe the folks at Triumph went to the Lotus factory to find out
what Chapman was doing with all of their GT6 front suspension bits on the
Elan, and noticed this rubber thing at the back and decided turn-about was
fair play?
Just a guess, and probably a bad one at that.
