Not as much as you would think.  The reason is the donuts are designed so that 
the majority of flex is side to side rather than front
to back.  So the torque is transmitted through the donuts almost as effectively 
as through U-Joints. 

The flex action absorbs changes in overall axle length during bump action where 
the end of the axle drops and the lower wishbone keeps
the outer axle assembly from dropping an a constant radius as in true swing 
axle suspensions.
