No need to go that far.  With the helicoil removed, take a close look at the 
top few threads.  You will probably find the first two striped/missformed 
causing the helocoil insert to skip a thread when wound into the hole.

The first fix would be to carefully wind a new insert in being extra careful 
to prevent the thread skiping.

Second fix would be to wind the insert past the damaged thread area.

The third would be to drill the top few threads out so the insert will have a 
clean start.

Before you resort to step three, try to find a good machine shop to assess 
the situation.  It would be tragic ( and expensive :+(     ) to make the hole 
worse and still have to take it to the shop for repair.
